WELCOME HOME COCOA Cocoa was our third sleepover dog at the animal sanctuary we volunteered at about a month ago.

Her story is a really bizarre one. She was a Katrina rescue dog, and has been at the sanctuary since. A few months back a family called and claimed she was their dog, and that they had had her since she was a puppy for 8 years. Due to circumstances (new baby and new dog), they would only be able to keep her outside. However nobody ever came to check on her, or make arrangements to take her home.
One weird thing is the fact that everyone who has seen her at the sanctuary (including the vets) is convinced that she cannot be more than 5 years old (most definitely not 10). Plus, the family only identified her from a picture. I honestly believe that she cannot possibly be their dog. But whatever the case may be, the family has finally agreed to give up the rights to her so she can be adopted into a good home.
I am very excited to say that she will be my friend's newest addition to the household, which already includes two Chow mixes. Cocoa is scheduled to arrive on Saturday. I am flying out to Jersey to help introduce her to the other two dogs and get her settled in. I can't wait! She is such a wonderful and sweet dog!
Now if I can only figure out a way to adopt Mason and Ginny (see earlier post).
