Robin recently released Alan Freeman Days exclusively through label Academy Recordings, an exciting new initiative from the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters. Academy Recordings is an artist driven, digital only label that exclusively allows Academy members to release recordings under their own control whilst having access to full marketing and global distribution support from The Orchard ensuring their music reaches hundreds of digital stores including itunes, EMusic and Google.
Academy Recordings first release is a compilation of newly recorded tracks and previously unreleased archive recordings from Ivor Novello Award winners Robin Gibb, Peter Gabriel, Chrissie Hynde, David Arnold, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies and Iain Archer.
Robin Gibb, Academy Fellow, said:
"This is a landmark opportunity for artists and writers. Unfettered by the demands of the traditional album cycle and label system, I can release any musical idea I choose, in a dialogue with my fans, and actually get paid. This is a serious contender for paving the way of an entirely new approach towards making, marketing and selling music".
We thank Robin for all his help with this project
