Despite the drizzling rain I went downtown this morning in an elated mood to the already mentioned Saturn shop for my long awaited copy. Of course I went straight to the shelf with the novelties, greedily looking for a bright velvety ... no, I don't want to bore you, let's cut things short.
Over to the information desk ... "Bee Gees, Odessa, the new version ... it's due to be out today". The already mentioned guy ... search, search, search ... "27th !"
"PARDON!!??!! ... Couple of weeks ago you said 13th of February ..." The guy showed signs of compassion. "Looks like there are delivery problems."
Life can be so absurd. :roll:

Today five years ago, I sat down in our living room and put on my headphones to listen for the first time to a freshly burnt cd, put together with pieces ripped off the web in largely varying quality ...
It was a revelation! :idea: I had definately fallen for a Masterpeace and the geniuses that created it.

Odessa, 3rd take ...
Saturn, around 11am this morning ... At the novelties shelf no trace of red ... No trace of the guy at the information desk either. It seems the coward is hiding.
After granting him a minute or two to turn up, I address another young man who is nearby busy rearranging cds. He graciously walks over to the computer to have a look for me.
Sorry, not yet there ... I thought so, but does it say anything as to when? ... No, it may still arrive, though, until 4pm today. If I'd like to come back some time later, I may have a chance ...

By the way, I got to know that they ordered just one item ... So far, so bad. :roll:

I didn't have any problems to recieve the Odessa album. I phoned the local cd store and "Odessa " was already in "da house".
So i bought my copie in january and it's absolutely amazing.

That's what I did this morning. I phoned Saturn, the main shop though, not the small department store branch that I usually contact for convenience, and was told that they had four items in stock. So the next moment saw me heading towards the city to bring the story to a happy ending.
There were still three copies on the shelf, now there are but two ... or maybe less. :P
It's great, although I became a fan only at such an advanced stage of the Bee Gees career,
I can still enjoy the excitement of new releases.
Nice that you got your copy already in January, Herman, but here in Germany it's indeed available only since yesterday, also from amazon.de. Don't ask me why ... :?

In Holland we have a music magazine called "Revolver" after the famous song/album of the Beatles. It's a magazine filled with articles about music history and today's music.
On the re-issue pages they wrote an article about "Odessa" . The album ( of course the re-issue) reached the maximum of 5 stars. And it's on 5 in the top 10 made by readers en authors of the magazine. I think it's great news don't you ?!

I don't think that the names were officially announced. I remember that someone on a mailing list I'm on recently told us that she just got hers.

Mine finally came in, complete with all the little red fuzzies to stick to the CD :P Outside of First of May and Melody Fair I've never heard any of it before so I'm up for three CDs of fun!

I like how this was split between fully stereo and fully mono disks.

The demo version of Odessa is nice, getting to hear the lyrics and the backbone of the song then plunging in to the full version.
