I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your brothers for having such a positive influence in my life. I first heard your music in 1969 when I was in Vietnam. I dont know why but "I Started a Joke" touched my soul at that time and caused me to question my life and what I was doing. The bottom line is that I left the military. A week later my jet was shot down and all were killed. I know that your song saved my life and I am ever grateful. All these years I have been one of your most ardent fans and will remain so till I die. I wish you and your brother and your families well.

It's been a long time since I posted on here. Sorry about that. Been really busy. I wish you the best Robin and hope that you get well soon. I too had to be rushed to the hospital a month ago from digestive issues I have. But this time was worse, I thought I was having a heart attack but it turned out that my acid reflux came back (back on medication now)along with a spastic colon. I also have IBS (irritable bowl syndrome) and diverticulitis sometimes. I know how painful it can be and I only wish you the best of luck with all the test and hopes that it is not serious. Also I hope you feel better soon. I feel for you man...not fun going through things but stay calm if possible because that doesn't help either...very hard to do easier said than done. God speed and my thoughts/prayers are with you all especially you.

Everyone pray for Robin. I have been very upset with this news, as Robin's daughter was a close friend of mine at school and I still think about the good times we had and how nice Robin was when I met him. All the Gibb family members I met were really nice people. This was back in the late 80s and early 90s, but I remember those days clear enough as if they happened last week.
Those memories will live with me forever and I tbink that the friendship was a big influence on my life today and what I do, because I really got into music more through having met the Gibbs and I've been photographing rock bands performing at headline concerts and festivals for the last ten years. I grew up listening to Robin's music, fond memories of dancing around to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack when I was about five years old!

I'm thinking of all the Gibb family right now and very worried.

Pray and hold out hope until we hear something official about Robin's condition, which we haven't yet. All the stories I've heard and read online quote the same "unknown source/friend", which I find troublesome. Up until now official word from this website has been that Robin has a colon problem. I had a friend with a severe colon problem and it took them a year to recover and quite frankly there for awhile she looked like she may not live. A month ago Robin looked pretty sick. The most recent pictures of he, Barry and his family he looks like he is getting better. If he does indeed have cancer perhaps they caught it early enough to treat. Again, him having cancer has yet to be acknowleded by any credible source.

Yes you are absolutely right, nothing has been officially confirmed and Robin's latest pictures did show him improving.

I was a teenager in the 70s and part of the "disco sucks" crowd, and the Bee Gees were just an easy target in the rebellion against empty, flashy music. But listening to their music with a sophisticated ear, it's become impossible to not appreciate the melodic, sweetness, depth, nuanced, soulful music these men created.
Another thing that's so cool about them is the way they're all so proud of their music. Not at all in a haughty way, but like a humble enthusiasm and a real LOVE for music. It feels like they are fans too! It's so awesome to behold. I am grateful for the Bee Gees.

There is a almost healing quality to their voices that radiates to the listener. Thats why whether you are in a good mood or feeling quite down at the time. We all come away after listening to a track from The Brothers with a really upbeat feeling that life is not so bad today!

I'm not the typical person that writes in this foros , but this time I have decided change, because I want to share with you my Bee Gees story.

I'm not the typical fan of anything , either never I had posters in my room of my idols (well with the exception of my football team FC Barcelona :-))

But I always liked to enjoy listening good music.
Not only lisening Bee Gees , of course , but really, I can say that you are the band that has influenced me most.

I discovered you when I was teen , in the late 80's (with ESP album) and in the begining of 90's I was so lucky to see you live in Barcelona in your High Civilization tour.
I believe I discovered in your artistic maturity (less valued by the world than the disco era but in my opinion equals good)

Never were important to me if you arrive to number 1 in the charts or if the DJ played or not your singles in the radios.
in my opinion fame and fashion comes and goes, but good songs are timeless.

Actually you (and your brothers as well) you get hooked me all this years.
I don't know , if are the vocal harmonies, melodies , the rithms , or that I'm identify myself with many of the lyrics ...
It's like when you fall in love, you don't understand very well how it has happened but it happened.
Every song always manages to surprise me, and I never get bored listening.

Now, since long time ago, although I understand the reasons, I miss fresh air with new Bee Gees compositions.
you can take my suggestion when you have forces... ;-)

Also I want to share that the last year my friends gave me a guitar for my birthday.
I had never sung before really, but I decided to try.
first few chords, a whole song with just guitar.
and then guitar and sing at once. uhhh !!!
Well, I did it :-)

I was surprised myself, that the songs comes to me more easily than I expected.
I's possible that I have learned something during all this years just listen to you...?
Let's see if I have tried the wrong profession? ;-)

Just I wanted to say that the first song I sang was Massachusetts.
and the next time I sing it, I will dedicate to Robin Gibb, one of my 3 idols of my teenage years, and a great inspiration
