Hallo Ann,
I would like to know where may I find the lyrics of "Wing and a prayer" and - another question - why this song has the same name of another track included in the "One" album (Firstly I thought it was a remake of that song of the Bee Gees) ?
Regarding the title, it happens. I've noticed that there are phrases/expressions that tend to pop up repeatedly in songs written by the Gibb brothers over the years and this is one time where it shows up in a title and not just in the verses. Another example is a song they did back in 1966 titled "Forever" which also was the title for a song they wrote for the Jimmy Ruffin album "Sunrise" released in 1980.
'For Whom the Bell Tolls' is a nice example where a certain phrase appears twice, first as a lyrics line (When He's Gone) and later on as a title, probably inspired by Hemingway's novel or the film version of it ... although originally (?) it's a line from a poem by John Dunne.
It seems that there are phrases that just recommend themselves as song titles, as there are a lot of songs with the same title but different melody and different lyrics written by different artists. I'm almost sure the expression 'Wing and a Prayer' has a history too.
