Yeah, major bummer ain't it. Turns out that if you try to order through the record companies own stores they aren't too willing to ship outside the US. Same thing happened when I wanted to get a Bee Gees item from Universal's shop a few years back. BURN!

The thing is, reading the help section, had the Odessa set been made by Rhino Handmade, no problemo, then they ship worldwide.

Still, Amazon.co.uk is way cheaper


... but I still wouldn't mind that T-shirt.

I've been in touch with Rhino USA to point this US only thing out. Let's see what happens (If lol) ... W/re to pricing of the set, Amazon have probably been guessing the price as dealer details weren't known/sent out till 2 days ago. It's a 3 disc box set with velvet cover and the dealer price is actually higher than Amazon's retail price, so I'd expect them to adapt their price anytime soon as they are effectively selling with loss.

I have noticed HMV charging £33 and Play.com, who used to quote the same price as Amazon UK, have adjusted their's accordingly. Swedish retailers were closer (and then some) to the US ones so I figured Amazon UK's to be a fortunate accident. Well, fortunate for me anyway.
Now I'm just waiting for that e-mail from Amazon going "Psyche!"

Well there's a lot of talk here about Tshirts and other problems.I just want to say that I have seen the tracklist of record 3, and even listened the clips and its all I ever wanted from the Odessa re-issue. Great!!!!!Can't wait till january. To me this is the re-issue from all times.I'm also a Jethro tull and Who fan and they have been great on re-issues as well but Odessa beats them all!!!

What a 'Holiday Treat' from you Robin! Listening to Lamplight and Black Diamond (alternate version and demo) just make me feel like I'm a teenager again. And they're so hauntingly beautiful. Brilliant is the word to use! And I love sharing the creating process. The re-issues surely are must haves to true fans.

Thanks for sharing the video of the live performance of 'Holiday' too. The vocals can be heard so clearly here. What a voice, and the emotions, and the version of 'Holiday' is the same as that I heard in Robin's Hong Kong concert. Just love it and needless to say it's fantastic and brilliant too!

Just got my copy of the Odessa reissue and its, in ONE word: GREAT!!!
A beautiful little red box,sticker and poster but most of all: "Sketches for Odessa" sounds great.
Its very interesting to hear the progress in the lyrics, the alternate takes.
I really think this is the re-issue of the year and it was worth waiting for!
And again I feel : Odessa is a MASTERPIECE.

I'm happy for you, Jan. On Monday I visited a Saturn shop in the city to get my copy. I went straight to the shelf with the novelties, looking for a bright velvety red, but there was no trace of it. So I addressed the guy at the information desk ... "Bee Gees, Odessa, the new version ... it's due to be out today".
"Today? ... he replied, ... but we don't get cds on Monday anymore, only on Friday."
At least he consulted his computer ... search, search, search ... "But I have it here only for February 13th ..."
Back home I checked Amazon.de ... 'Available on February 13th' ... That happens when you use to think internationally. :roll:

Back to Odessa: there are no liner notes by Barry and Robin. Would be great if Robin would put a few liner notes on this site!!! ( for example about the title track, or Black Diamond or Lamplight!?)

Finally! The past few days I've been listening to an online stream of the remaster but today I have at long last received the Odessa Deluxe Edition set and this sounds fantastic. Two thumbs up to Andrew Sandoval and Dan Hersch for a well done mastering job. I have the stereo disc cranked up at the moment and will move through the other two before the day is through. Looking forward to more remasters in the future.
